Rules
You must complete 3 contributions by October 26th to be eligible for a prize.
A contribution is anything that you can submit and show that you authored. This includes but is not limited to:
- A pull/merge request on the forge the project is hosted on.
- An email patch set to a project that includes commits you have authored.
- Other methods on a case by case basis. This is solely at the discretion of the organizers.
All contributions must be "high quality."
High quality does not mean large or complex, it just means useful. Some examples of high quality contributions are:
- Fixing a bug, especially a long standing one.
- Adding a feature that someone has asked for in the projects issue tracker.
- Adding missing documentation or adjusting documentation that might be confusing.
When in doubt, ask the maintainers!
This is specifically an LLM/Generative AI free event.
The goal is not only to improve the software you love, but also improve your skills and knowledge while you're at it.
Just have fun, this is designed to be pretty low stakes. However we retain the authority to disqualify you if we feel you're acting in bad faith.
Please don't spam project maintainers with junk or spam contributions.
Some examples of spam contributions:
- Changing code to a functionally identical but syntactically different implementation.
- Changes to documentation that has no material benefit.
- Making changes to configuration files that maintainers have not specifically asked for.
